After our first improvisational composition utilising chord sequences calculated by an IBM quantum computer titled ‘Telematic City Jam – Glasgow’ (which was broadcast as part of the Radiophrenia 2025 festival and, a few months later, on Resonance FM), we were invited to present the FLO project at the AES Europe 2025 taking place in Warsaw, Poland.
The organisers advised us there would be no time for a tech rehearsal, and, as the internet speed at the venue was unknown, we decided it would be safest if we created another composition, titled (you guessed it!) ‘Telematic City Jam – Warsaw’, so that it could be played from a laptop locally. We used the same chord sequences (in a slightly different way) and added a twist in the form of interactive visuals. We did three different performances and chose the one we liked best (even though they were all great!). Silvia programmed the visuals to be minimal but also quite striking in style (you can check the whole performance out on the FLO YouTube channel).

And, as Magda lives in Warsaw and was able to attend the conference, she kindly volunteered to take the audiovisual file of the performance (and some slides about the FLO project) and introduce the work of FLO to the AES audience in person. What a super trooper!!!
The first order of the day for Magda was to play the recording of the ‘Telematic City Jam – Warsaw’ performance and give the audience an idea of what telematic audiovisual performance might look and sound like 🙂

After this, it was time to go through some slides and talk about the FLO project workflow (audio, video, mixing, streaming, etc.) and how this particular performance was put together.

And finally, after doing an amazing job (and having some folks approach her to ask further questions), Magda was able to sit back, relax, and enjoy the rest of the conference (the big smile on her face says it all!)

A HUGE THANK YOU to Magda for taking the time out of her busy schedule to present FLO at AES Europe 2025, and to the following peeps and organisations who helped make this happen:
- AES Europe 2025 team (Co-Chair Magdalena Piotrowska and Liasons Chair Ewa Łukasik) for kindly inviting us to present the FLO project.
- Our gear sponsors: Bitwig Studio, Audio-Technica, RØDE Microphones, PreSonus, NETGEAR, WAVES and BCSWomen.
